Below is a summary of my current and former mahi (work and service) supporting hapū, iwi, and the wider community across Whangarei and Te Taitokerau.

Hapū & Iwi Collaboration

  • Nga Hapū o Mangakahia

    • Building strong relationships and driving collaborative projects that uplift Mangakahia whānau and hapū.

  • Patuharakeke

    • ​​Actively engaged in nurturing the cultural heritage, environmental stewardship, and social development of our community.

  • Te Parawhau

    • ​​Supporting Te Parawhau in protecting taonga, advancing local projects, and fostering intergenerational knowledge.

  • Te Waiariki, Ngāti Kororā, Ngāti Takapari

    • Working alongside these hapū to strengthen cultural identity and promote sustainable, community-led initiatives.

  • Pukahakaha East 5B Ahu Whenua Trust

    • Championing climate resilience and sustainable land management to ensure the whenua thrives for future generations.

  • Whatitiri Māori Reserve

    • Advocating for climate resilience and sustainable practices to safeguard the whenua and resources.

  • Omauri Marae Reserve

    • Supporting climate-focused initiatives and the preservation of marae lands for the benefit of our people.

  • Te Whakapiko

    • Championing climate action and environmental guardianship within local Māori reserves.

Governance & Advisory Roles

  • Te Huinga | MWF Project Manager

    • Managing $4M projects that benefit Māori and the wider Whangārei community.

  • Te Karearea Secretariat

    • Providing administrative support and strategic guidance.

  • FENZ Local Advisory Committee

    • Advising Fire and Emergency New Zealand on local priorities and needs.

  • Te Ruarangi / TTMAC (Proxy Representative)

    • Representing hapū in council and regional decision-making.

  • Taitokerau Tangata Whenua Water Advisory

    • Offering tangata whenua perspectives on water management and policy.

  • Te Oneroa-a-Tōhe Board (Technical Support)

    • Supporting the board with technical advice for the protection and management of Te Oneroa-a-Tōhe (Ninety Mile Beach).

Environmental & Conservation Mahi

  • Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust

    • Treasurer, Project Executive, and Chairperson for projects connecting people to freshwater and marine environments.

  • Whitebait Connection

    • Engaging schools and communities in freshwater conservation and restoration.

  • EMR | Experiencing Marine Reserves

    • Promoting marine education and protection through hands-on experiences.

  • Wai Connections

    • Supporting collaborative initiatives for healthy waterways across Te Taitokerau.

  • Te Taitokerau Touch Incorporated (Treasurer)

    • Supporting the growth and development of touch rugby in Te Taitokerau.

  • Taitokerau Polynesian Canoe Association (Treasurer)

    • Promoting waka ama and Polynesian voyaging for community wellbeing.

  • Mitamitaga ole Pasifika Va’a alo Canoe Club (Treasurer)

    • Strengthening Pasifika identity and whanau through waka ama.

  • Tai Kotuku Waka Ama (Treasurer)

    • Encouraging participation and excellence in waka ama.

  • Te Kauika o Patuharakeke (Treasurer)

    • Supporting Patuharakeke’s waka ama team and kaupapa.
